Softball Recap: South Knox Comes Up Short

South Knox extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 1-4 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-10 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lawrenceville Indians. On the bright side, the ten- run performance marked the Spartans' highest-scoring match to date.

As for Lawrenceville, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-8. The game was the first time they have beaten South Knox on their field since April 10, 2019.

For Lawrenceville's part, Allison Evans made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Evans has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs and two RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lawrenceville got a massive performance out of Alyssa Griggs, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits Griggs has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Erin Harris, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.

South Knox wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against North Daviess on the 17th. As for Lawrenceville, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-4 defeat against Richland County on the 17th.
