Belton-Honea Path (Honea Path, S.C.) put up 14 points in the fourth quarter in Saturday's game to seal their 31-7 victory over
Emerald (Greenwood, S.C.).
The teams went into the locker room at halftime deadlocked at seven. The Bears took the lead indefinitely on a field goal by
Parker Peeples in the third quarter.
Belton-Honea Path's standout player in the win was BHP. He threw one touchdown, ran for two touchdowns and kicked one field goal and four extra points.
Emerald's lone touchdown came on a 20-yard pass in the second quarter.
BHP had given up an average of 11.9 points prior to the contest.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 49-20 win for the Honea Path school.
The defeat comes as a step back for Emerald, who notched a 41-24 victory over Palmetto in its previous outing. With the win the Bears extended their winning streak to three games.
