The Whitharral Panthers won the last time they faced the Amherst Bulldogs, and things went their way on Friday too. Whitharral enjoyed a cozy 45-27 win over Amherst. Given Whitharral's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 676th, while Amherst is ranked 1554th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Whitharral found their leader in underclassman Nathaniel Sansom, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Sansom is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brent Robinson, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Whitharral has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. As for Amherst, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-12.
Whitharral didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-11 victory vs. Meadow on the 12th. Amherst does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
