After a string of four wins, the Franklin Academy Panthers's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 63-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jewish Culture. The game was a 25-25 toss-up at halftime, but Franklin Academy was outscored by Jewish Culture in the second.
Despite the loss, Franklin Academy saw an underclassman step up: Robert Guishard dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. The matchup was Guishard's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Goddette, who scored 12 points.
Jewish Culture found their leader in underclassman Shilo Kahan, who scored 19 points along with five steals. The game was Kahan's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ben Lasry, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Franklin Academy's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-3. As for Jewish Culture, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.
Franklin Academy will head out on the road to face off against Somerset Academy Central Miramar at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Somerset Academy Central Miramar focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Monday. Jewish Culture won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Greater Miami Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 10th.
