Spring Creek is 1-9 against Lowry since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Spring Creek Spartans will be playing at home against the Lowry Buckaroos at 6:00 p.m. Spring Creek will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
Spring Creek posted their closest win yet this season on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Elko and snuck past 31-29. The victory was just what Spring Creek needed coming off of a 69-18 defeat in their prior contest.
Spring Creek relied on the efforts of Brianna Dimick, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and four steals, and Ryan Youngblood, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Dimick hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games.
Meanwhile, Lowry faced Fernley in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lowry lost to Fernley on the road by a decisive 66-52 margin on Friday. Lowry's loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Lowry had strong showings from Savannah Stoker, who scored 12 points along with six assists and five rebounds, and Britain Backus, who scored 20 points. That was a full 38.5% of Lowry's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Spring Creek's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Lowry, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-5.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Spring Creek have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 25.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Lowry struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 29.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Spring Creek was dealt a bruising 51-14 defeat at the hands of Lowry in their previous matchup on January 4th. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Spring Creek was down 39-9.
