The Shiprock Chieftains came tearing into Monday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Rehoboth Christian by a score of 63-51. For Shiprock, this counts as revenge for the 65-56 defeat the Lynx walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Nevaughn Begay was his usual excellent self, scoring 36 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Donte Nelson, who scored 17 points.
Shiprock's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Rehoboth Christian, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shiprock will take on the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Miyamura has now lost 16 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5. As for Rehoboth Christian, they will be playing at home against the Bobcats at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bosque knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully the Lynx likes a good challenge.
