On Monday, the Dunbar Crimson Tide faced the Archbishop Carroll Lions in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Dunbar took a serious blow against Archbishop Carroll, falling 74-33. Dunbar was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-15.
Despite the loss, Dunbar still got an impressive performance from Emorean Thomas, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Luv Barron, who scored six points.
Heidi Williams continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Archbishop Carroll, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. Aliyah Duncan was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Dunbar's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Archbishop Carroll, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dunbar will face off against McKinley Tech at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully McKinley Tech focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Wednesday. As for Archbishop Carroll, they will head out on the road to challenge Elizabeth Seton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Elizabeth Seton is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.5 points per game.
