The Shasta Wolves will venture away from home to square off against the Red Bluff Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Shasta is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
Foothill hit Shasta with a four-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wolves lost 13-3 to the Cougars.
Haley Salkeld was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
12 must be Red Bluff's lucky number: they beat Enterprise with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Spartans put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 12-5 win. Considering the Spartans have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Natalie Newport made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2025. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Camryn Dykee was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Kylie Orduno was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Red Bluff always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .609. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
The victory made it two in a row for Red Bluff and bumps their season record up to 13-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Shasta, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13.
Shasta came out on top in a nail-biter against Red Bluff in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, sneaking past 8-6. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
