The Buckeye Hawks entered their tilt with the Copper Canyon Aztecs with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Buckeye came out on top against Copper Canyon by a score of 67-55 on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Buckeye's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zachary Bennett, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Isaiah Leyva was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Buckeye's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-9. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for Copper Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buckeye on the road again on Thursday and play against Independence at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. As for Copper Canyon, they will square off against Glendale at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
