Given Niskayuna's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Flying Horses are ranked 481st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the defeat, Troy saw an underclassman step up: Stetson Merritt scored 31 points. That was a full 55.4% of Troy's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Legend Merritt, who scored 13 points.
The win makes it two in a row for Niskayuna and bumps their season record up to 13-3. As for Troy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.
Niskayuna will be playing at home against the Bison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Shaker's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches. As for Troy, they will head out on the road to take on the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
