Freeland and Garber are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2022, but likely not for long. The Falcons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Dukes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Freeland has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight losses, while Garber will come in with four straight victories.
Freeland's last matchup with Swan Valley could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Tuesday. The Falcons lost 14-2 to the Vikings.
Freeland saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma DeShone, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double was DeShone's first of the season.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Garber and Central, and Garber kept the tradition alive. The Dukes were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over the Wolves on Friday. Considering the Dukes have won six games by more than 11 runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Kara Kotenko made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2025. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ella Kokaly, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Meredith Krauseneck, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Garber kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.
Garber's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Freeland, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Freeland beat Garber 8-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Dukes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
