The Plumas Charter Warriors will challenge the Burney Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Plumas Charter has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Burney will arrive with six straight victories.
Plumas Charter came up short against Chester on Wednesday, falling 21-3.
Amaiya Beatty made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Savana Hymas, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, while Burney put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Redding Christian. The Raiders blew past the Lions 16-0. Considering the Raiders have won ten contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Mia Perez was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, Isabella Prindiville and Alexis Witzel did most of the damage at the plate: Prindiville went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Witzel went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those four RBI gave Prindiville a new career-high. Natalia Maldonado was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Burney always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Redding Christian only posted an OBP of .059.
Burney's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Plumas Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-18-1.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Plumas Charter hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. However, it's not like Burney struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Plumas Charter came up short against Burney in their previous meeting back in April, falling 10-5. Will the Warriors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
