If the Northeast Raiders were feeling good off their 66-23 takedown of the Kendrick Cherokees last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Northeast was beaten by the Greenwave 68-30 on Friday. Northeast was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-16.
Northeast's loss came despite strong showings from Nyla Howard and Destinee Waller. Howard scored eight points, while Waller scored no points.
Spencer got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alexandria Berk out in front who scored 17 points along with eight assists and three steals. Berk has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Naomi Berk, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Northeast has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Spencer, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northeast will take on the Red Jackets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Spencer, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Southwest is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
