5A Region II District 9 recap Nov. 7, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Richardson, who took down 413th ranked Berkner, 47-35.
Skyline extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region II District 9 this week by beating White, 70-14. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Yedidiah Louis provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Rams fell to the Eagles. He completed 10 passes for 131 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 159 yards. Louis' favorite target this week was Calvin Jones, who caught five passes for 79 yards.
Rhett Svetgoff put up the best numbers through the air as Pearce lost to Lake Highlands. He finished with a total of 16 completions for 219 yards and one touchdown. Svetgoff's favorite target this week was Blake Fletcher, who caught five passes for 57 yards.
The Mustangs' Svetgoff and Ryan Stanton have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Svetgoff has thrown for 1236 yards this season, while Stanton has 33 catches for 468 yards. Jones from Berkner leads the league in rushing with 850 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Skyline takes on Jim Ledford's team. Reginald Samples' team is in first place, while the Rams are in fifth place.
Richardson moved up to 411 from 463 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A Region II District 9. Brian Chandler's team was able to make move up by besting Berkner 47-35.
