On Friday Axtell take on Frankfort at 7:00 PM. Frankfort will need to watch out since Axtell have now posted big point totals in their last six contests.
After a string of five wins, Axtell's good fortune finally ran out last Friday. They took a 42-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hanover. Axtell got a solid performance out of junior Quinn Buessing, who picked up 101 yards on the ground and accumulated 291 passing yards; unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the victory. If you haven't heard Buessing's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in their past six games.
Meanwhile, Frankfort put the finishing touches on their 6th blowout victory of the season. They took the matchup and then some with a 60-14 win over St. John's/Tipton Catholic. That looming 46-point mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Frankfort yet.
Frankfort's win lifted them to 6-0 while Axtell's defeat dropped them down to 5-1. Given their high-scoring efforts against their previous opponents, it will be interesting to see how far up these teams can run up the score.
