If the Millard South Patriots were riding high off their 69-46 takedown of the Columbus Discoverers last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Millard South had to suffer through a rough 76-41 loss at the hands of Creighton Prep. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Millard South has scored all season.
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jett Thomalla, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds. Bernie Anderson was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Millard South struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Creighton Prep's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caleb Djoussa, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 2 assists. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Dillon Claussen, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds.
Millard South's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Creighton Prep, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.
Millard South won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Papillion-LaVista at 12:00 p.m. on December 30th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Papillion-LaVista is ranked 124th, while Millard South is ranked 132nd). As for Creighton Prep, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Omaha Westside at 7:00 p.m. on December 30th. Omaha Westside is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
