Coalinga and Dos Palos are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Horned Toads will head out to challenge the Broncos at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Coalinga's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Tranquillity 13-0. The win was nothing new for the Horned Toads as they're now sitting on six straight.
Chloe Sandoval made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Sandoval was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Coalinga got a massive performance out of Cabria Schroer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Juliette Sinclair, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Coalinga always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .846. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2025.
Meanwhile, Dos Palos won against Tranquillity on Friday with 18 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Broncos put the hurt on Firebaugh with a sharp 18-3 victory.
Like Coalinga, Dos Palos also got a great game from a two-way player: Carly Brinkley. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Brinkley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Hannah Slimp was incredible, going 3-for-4 with seven RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Jayla Bland was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Coalinga's record now sits at 13-9. As for Dos Palos, their record is now 7-10.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Coalinga has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .437. However, it's not like Dos Palos struggles in that department as they've averaged .463. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Coalinga couldn't quite finish off Dos Palos in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 and fell 3-1. Can the Horned Toads avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
