Small-School Team of the Week: Heritage Hall
When you have a quarterback like Garrett Valdez running the show, anything is possible. Valdez has been extremely impressive for Heritage Hall, validating his name being included into the discussion as to who should be the quarterback on the All-Class team. Valdez joins Bethany's J.P. Grasmick, Sequoyah-Tahlequah's Nathan Stanley, and Adair's Kenny Davis.
Through three games, Valdez has completed 69 percent of his passing attempts for 524 yards and 10 touchdowns. More importantly for Heritage Hall, Valdez has only thrown one interception. Sophomore Tanner France has rushed for 234 yards at a 7.3 yards per carry clip to compliment Valdez in the backfield.
Kyle McPherson and Matt Johnson have led a defense that has allowed just eight points the entire season. McPherson has four sacks and an interception, while Johnson has added three sacks to pace a defense that has allowed just under 145 yards per game.
A 20-0 thumping of Davis last Friday speaks volumes. The Chargers were able to hand the Wolves their first back-to-back losses in 25 years. For as good as Davis has been and still might be, Heritage Hall took a major step in closing the gap with the shutout victory.
