The Gaithersburg Trojans will head out on the road to challenge the Whitman Vikings at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Gaithersburg waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 55-46 victory over Clarksburg.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Whitman beat Bethesda-Chevy Chase 58-53 on Friday.
Whitman's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Thomas Farrell, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Titian DeRosa, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
The win got Gaithersburg back to even at 4-4. As for Whitman, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3.
Gaithersburg didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Whitman in their previous meeting back in February of 2020, but they still walked away with a 64-58 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gaithersburg since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
