Rochester and Winamac are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Rochester Zebras will be playing at home against the Winamac Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rochester had to kick off their season on the road last Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Culver Community 70-35 on the road. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, as Rochester did.
Tanner Reinartz and Drew Bowers were among the main playmakers for Rochester as the former scored 13 points along with 6 assists and 6 rebounds and the latter scored 19 points along with 5 steals. Owen Prater was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Winamac earned a 64-53 victory over North Newton on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Winamac.
Winamac's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was William Malchow, who scored 23 points along with 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of John Malchow, who scored 20 points.
Rochester's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Winamac, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
Rochester didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Winamac when the teams last played back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 52-46 victory.
