Caden Frost and Milo Jung did some serious damage despite the final result: Frost went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Jung went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run. Jung is becoming a predictor of Summit Shasta's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 6-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Benedict Del Rosario, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Design Tech came out on top against KIPP San Jose Collegiate on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive 16-run first inning. The Dragons put the hurt on the Wolfpack with a sharp 21-1 win. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by ten runs or more this season.
Reilly Sutton and Logan Garrett made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Sutton pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Garrett tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sutton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. At bat, Sutton went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Garrett went 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. Those three runs gave Garrett a new career-high.
In other batting news, Aidan Tom was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Eoin Halili, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Design Tech kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 24 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Design Tech is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Summit Shasta, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Summit Shasta has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Design Tech struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Summit Shasta's way against Design Tech in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Summit Shasta made off with a 7-0 win. Will the Black Bears repeat their success, or do the Dragons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
