After flying high against the Regis Groff Fusion last Saturday, the Stargate School Eagles came back down to earth. Stargate School suffered a rough 68-42 loss at the hands of Colorado Academy on Wednesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Stargate School in their matchups with Colorado Academy: they've now lost six in a row.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hunter Roark, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Roark is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Connor Rusch was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Colorado Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Michael Mckee, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Mckee scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Clyde Love, who scored 15 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Stargate School's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Colorado Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Stargate School will head out on the road to square off against Jefferson Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Jefferson Academy will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Colorado Academy will take on Forge Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Forge Christian is ranked 20th, while Colorado Academy is ranked 15th).
