Deer Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 28-21 to the Freedom Falcons. Deer Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anias Hightower, who rushed for 144 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Those 144 rushing yards gave Hightower a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sundiata Walker, who rushed for 60 yards and a touchdown.
Even though they lost, Deer Valley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 215 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Deer Valley wouldn't let Freedom keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Deer Valley can thank Jahzeer Johnson and Jaylan Bryant for forcing both of them.
Deer Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Freedom, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-9.
