Basketball Recap: Waco's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak at Home

Waco came into Tuesday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They snuck past the Salado Eagles with a 65-60 victory on Tuesday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Lions' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 742nd, while the Eagles are ranked 364th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Waco to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shamiah Taylor, who went 7 for 16 on her way to 18 points in addition to eight assists and four steals. Taylor's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaziyah Degrate, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards.

Waco's victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-8. As for Salado, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waco will host Lampasas at 7:00 p.m. on December 17th. Lampasas will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Waco surely won't give up without a fight. As for Salado, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against University at 5:00 p.m.
