The Jasper Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Southeast Lancers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
After a string of three wins, Jasper's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 49-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southern Missouri RUSH. While losing is never fun, Jasper can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Southern Missouri RUSH is ranked 44th).
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 15 to 6 on the offensive boards, a fact Southeast proved on Friday. They came out on top against Erie by a score of 47-36. The team ran away with 36 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the victory.
Southeast's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eliz White led the charge by scoring 8 points along with 5 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinzey Cassidy, who scored 8 points along with 5 steals.
Their wins bumped Jasper to 3-2 and Southern Missouri RUSH to 6-1.
Everything came up roses for Jasper against Southeast when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 56-18 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jasper since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
