Not much got past Abby Alwine, who gave up just a hit to keep DeKalb off the board. Alwine has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, East Noble's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Paige Griggs, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Meanwhile, Garrett beat Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran 9-4 on Tuesday.
Ashlee Vanderbosch made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. Vanderbosch was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Jayiden Feicht was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Aliviah Mowery was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Garrett hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive matchups.
East Noble's victory bumped their record up to 18-7-1. As for Garrett, their win bumped their record up to 21-8.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. East Noble has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .463.
