Even though the Taylor County Bulldogs have not done well against the North Florida Christian Eagles recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Taylor County snuck past North Florida Christian with a 61-56 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Taylor County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Louis Gaddy Jr., who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 18 rebounds. Those 18 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Allen Collier, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds.
North Florida Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Parker Freeland and Jace Riggan. Freeland scored 20 points along with seven rebounds, while Riggan dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyle Wright, who scored 11 points.
Taylor County pushed their record up to 7-5 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for North Florida Christian, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.
Taylor County will head out on the road to face off against Suwannee at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Suwannee is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. North Florida Christian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against St. John Paul II at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. St. John Paul II has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests.
