The Louisburg Warriors waltzed into Monday's match with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against Vance County by a score of 50-39. Given Louisburg's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 266th, while Vance County is ranked 567th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Louisburg found their leader in underclassman Jakobe Edgerton, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Edgerton has scored at least 25% of Louisburg's points. Another player making a difference was Josh Smith, who scored ten points.
Vance County's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Damion Jones, who scored 14 points along with three steals, and Taeshawn Alston who scored six points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Alston pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Louisburg pushed their record up to 4-1 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Vance County, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Louisburg will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Warren County at 7:30 p.m. on December 13th. Vance County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Northern Durham at 8:00 p.m. on December 12th. Northern Durham is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
