Nick Schmitz of Midway/Minto ran for the longest rushing play in A Region 2 this season against Westhope/Newburg/Glenburn last week. Schmitz ran for 75 yards on the play and finished with 206 on the day as his team lost to the Sioux.
Westhope/Newburg/Glenburn was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. The Sioux vanquished Midway/Minto 46-16 earlier in the week.
Brayden Hofer made the biggest impact on defense this week as Larimore defeated Harvey/Fessenden-Bowdon. The 6-foot-3 defensive lineman racked up 1.5 sacks.
P J Peterson put up the best numbers through the air as the Polar Bears beat the Hornets. He finished with four completions for 35 yards and one touchdown. Peterson's favorite target this week was Connor Nygaard, who caught one pass for 14 yards.
Logan Vaudrin was the best wideout in the league this week as Adam Fortwengler's team lost to Westhope/Newburg/Glenburn. Vaudrin tallied three receptions for 15 yards. Kyle Becker helped Midway/Minto's passing attack out by catching one ball for nine yards.
The Mustangs' Schmitz and Jake Smith have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading A Region 2 in both passing and receiving yards. Schmitz has thrown for 86 yards this season, while Smith, a 5-foot-6 receiver, has six catches for 58 yards. Larimore's Peterson leads the league in rushing yards with 884.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Langdon/Munich takes on the Sioux. As it stands, the Cardinals are in second, while Westhope/Newburg/Glenburn is in third.
Paul Peterson's team extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Harvey/Fessenden-Bowdon, 35-13. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Polar Bears.
