AURORA, Colo. - A big 28-point first quarter helped carry the Raiders to a 49-7 victory over Fort Collins (Colo.) on Saturday.
Regis Jesuit scored on a
Matt Houghtaling touchdown run, a touchdown run by Houghtaling, a
Jalen Williams touchdown run and a defensive touchdown in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Houghtaling in the first quarter, RJ led 42-0 at the half.
The Aurora school expanded its lead to 49 points entering the fourth quarter. The Raiders' lone score in the quarter came on a
Chris Ramos touchdown run.
The Raiders raced to 28 in the first quarter alone and kept up the pace for the win.
Houghtaling played well for RJ in the victory. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored eight touchdowns on the season.
Fort Collins' lone touchdown came on a 34-yard run by Ethan Dvorak in the fourth quarter.
The Aurora school went into the matchup giving up only 10.2 points per game. Fort Collins' seven points were well below their season average of 19.6 per game.
The loss comes after Fort Collins defeated Rocky Mountain 34-17 last week. The loss broke Fort Collins' two-game winning streak.
