Emily Pietrzykowski made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Alexander let Melanie Bump and Ava Yax run wild. Bump went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Yax went 2-for-3 with three runs. Faith Goodenbury also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Alexander kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Barker got themselves on the board against Medina on Friday, but Medina never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 12-0 win. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Mady Flint made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Those four hits gave Pavlock a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Stoll, who earned one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.
Alexander's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Barker, their record is now 7-4.
Alexander was able to grind out a solid win over Barker when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 11-6. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
