The Ryle Raiders had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They took down Mercy 53-39. Given Ryle's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Mercy is ranked 81st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sarah Baker continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaelyn Jones, who scored 13 points.
Ryle's victory bumped their record up to 16-7. As for Mercy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season.
Ryle's road trip will continue as they head out to face Campbell County at 8:00 p.m. on February 9th. Campbell County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Mercy, they will look to defend their home court on Sunday against Sacred Heart at 3:30 p.m.
