The Pike Red Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Greenwood Christian Academy Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pike is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
North Central hit Pike with a four-run fifth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Devils lost 9-3 to the Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Red Devils have suffered since April 13, 2024.

Lincoln Sigmund made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chaelor Freeman, Jr., who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one double.
Meanwhile, Greenwood Christian Academy made easy work of Indy Genesis HomeSchool on Monday and carried off a 9-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Preston Van Til looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Greenwood Christian Academy is 4-2 when Van Til allows one or fewer earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Eli Jackson, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brandt Kieninger, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Greenwood Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Pike, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pike has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Greenwood Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Pike suffered a grim 14-2 defeat to Greenwood Christian Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
