Softball Recap: Aberdeen Gets the Win

While Aberdeen's win against Centralia wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bobcats had just enough and edged out the Tigers 9-8 on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won five in a row.

Lilly Camp spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and seven unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Scotlyn Lecomte, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Vessey, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Aberdeen was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Aberdeen pushed their record up to 18-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Centralia, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11-2 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Aberdeen will square off against Shelton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bobcats are facing the Highclimbers at the right time seeing as the Highclimbers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Centralia, they will face off against WF West at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bearcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
