Ashwaubenon is 8-2 against De Pere since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Jaguars will square off against the Redbirds at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
De Pere will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Ashwaubenon extended their winning streak to five on Monday. The Jaguars never let Manitowoc Lincoln get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Jaguars have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Elly Kirst was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianna Guarascio, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Ashwaubenon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, De Pere got the win against Sheboygan North on Tuesday by a conclusive 13-0. The Redbirds haven't had any issues with the Golden Raiders recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Reese Falish and Addison Krutz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Falish pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Krutz pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Falish has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. At bat, Falish went 2-for-4 with two RBI, while Krutz went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Krutz also put up a triple, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, De Pere let Bella Robinett and Siena Arendt run wild. Robinett went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI, while Arendt scored four runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1. Jaelyn Craig also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Ashwaubenon pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for De Pere, their record is now 4-2.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ashwaubenon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .342. However, it's not like De Pere struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ashwaubenon skirted past De Pere 1-0 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jaguars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
