The Sheridan Blackhawks will square off against the Herron Achaeans at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Sheridan comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Sheridan is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came up short against Eastern on Thursday, falling 18-11. Even if the Blackhawks couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Amiyah Doss made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Mac Smith, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Herron never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Purdue Polytechnic on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Techies with a sharp 12-1 win. Considering the Achaeans have won six games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Jordyn Ault was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Ault was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Taegan Ann Gadberry was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Layla Williams was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.
Sheridan's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Herron, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Sheridan might still be hurting after the 16-3 loss they got from Herron when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Blackhawks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
