The McNairy Central Bobcats will square off against the Wayne County Wildcats at 6:35 p.m. on Friday. McNairy Central's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Wayne County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Wednesday, McNairy Central came up short against Chester County and fell 8-3. The Bobcats haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
McNairy Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kendall Kiestler, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Wayne County came out on top against Collinwood on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run first inning. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Trojans. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by nine runs or more this season.
Logan Davis made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Wayne County got a massive performance out of Jacan Floyd, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Brady Stooksberry was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Wayne County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Wayne County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for McNairy Central, their loss dropped their record down to 15-11.
McNairy Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Wayne County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 6-2. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
