The Sunnyslope Vikings came tearing into Thursday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.1 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against O'Connor by a score of 76-66. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Sunnyslope's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Delton Prescott led the charge by scoring 19 points along with two steals. Prescott has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rider Portela, who scored 13 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Sunnyslope's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4. As for O'Connor, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-4.
Sunnyslope will take on Boulder Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Boulder Creek has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 560 points over their last eight matches. As for O'Connor, they will head out on the road to challenge Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 41st, while O'Connor is ranked eighth).
