The LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls lost against the Aubrey Rogers Patriots back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The matchup between both teams wasn't particularly close, with LaBelle falling 63-46.
LaBelle's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marissa Burchard, who scored 23 points along with seven steals. That was a full 50% of LaBelle's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Aariah Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
LaBelle dropped their record down to 10-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Aubrey Rogers, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-6.
LaBelle will be playing at home against Gateway Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Gateway Charter is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak. As for Aubrey Rogers, they will head out on the road to square off against Cypress Lake at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Cypress Lake focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
