After a string of seven wins, the Norton Bluejays's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 57-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hoxie. Norton has not had much luck with Hoxie recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Several Bluejays players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mackenzie Clydesdale, who scored 14 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Clydesdale has scored all season. Jenessa Ruder was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three blocks.
Norton's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3. As for Hoxie, they pushed their record up to 11-0 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Norton will take on Ellis at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Ellis will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Norton is ranked 28th). As for Hoxie, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Russell at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Russell has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
