Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Huguenot Falcons, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 21-20 to the Blue Devils. Huguenot's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Huguenot still got an impressive performance from Jason Wright, who rushed for 60 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 208 yards and a touchdown.
Huguenot's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Varina, they have yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 10-2 record.
Huguenot does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Varina will head out on the road to face off against King George at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (King George: 13.3, Varina: 9.4) so any points scored will be well earned.
