The Pueblo Centennial Bulldogs were the 73-47 winner over the James Irwin Jaguars when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The game between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Pueblo Centennial falling 83-65. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Friday (60), they still had to take the loss.
Shon West and Jeffrey Valdez certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. West dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds, while Valdez scored 20 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points West has scored all season.
James Irwin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Logan Werner, who scored 32 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Werner continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Matthew Lebron, who scored 28 points along with five steals.
Pueblo Centennial has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for James Irwin, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pueblo Centennial will take on Manitou Springs at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Manitou Springs' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests. James Irwin won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Liberty Tree Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Liberty Tree Academy is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
