Mesa Vista hasn't had much luck against Mora recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Trojans will be playing at home against the Rangers/Rangerettes at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Mesa Vista took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Penasco with a sharp 3-0 win.
Mesa Vista never let Penasco on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-15, 25-15.

Mesa Vista's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Bella Gallegos, who had 12 digs, and Charlene Archuleta, who had seven digs and four aces. Archuleta has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last seven times she's played.
They weren't the only good servers: Mesa Vista was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in seven consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Mora hadn't done well against Escalante recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Rangers/Rangerettes came out on top against the Lobos by a score of 3-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Mora had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-16, 25-14, 28-26.
Mora's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Mesa Vista, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-7.
