Baseball Recap: Frankton Has No Trouble Against Blackford

Frankton lost to Blackford back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Bruins with a sharp 15-2 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by ten runs or more this season.

Brady Carmack made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, Caine Oakley was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Frankton: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Shaun Jarrett, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four runs and two RBI.

Frankton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Frankton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Blackford, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.

Frankton will host Eastern Hancock at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Blackford, they will venture away from home to face off against Monroe Central at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bruins are facing the Golden Bears at the right time seeing as the Golden Bears are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
