The Lake Worth Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Wellington at home and fell 51-13. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lake Worth has scored all season.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jocilynne Sweeney, who scored three points. Sweeney is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Christina Bell, who scored four points.
Madison Smith was her usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with nine rebounds for Wellington. Xiao Sheinkin was another key contributor, scoring four points along with nine steals and five rebounds.
Lake Worth now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Wellington, their win bumped their record up to an identical 2-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Worth will take on Dreyfoos School of the Arts at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Dreyfoos School of the Arts is ranked 488th, while Lake Worth is ranked 511th). As for Wellington, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Santaluces at 7:30 p.m.
