Baseball Recap: South Sumter Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

South Sumter lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Umatilla, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's contest. The Raiders were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Bulldogs on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Raiders, who have now won three games in a row.

Ismael Rodriguez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of James Boone, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

South Sumter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive matches.

South Sumter's record now sits at 16-4. As for Umatilla, their loss dropped their record down to 13-10.

Looking ahead, South Sumter will venture away from home to square off against Citrus at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Umatilla, they will host Mount Dora Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Umatilla's pitchers better be ready for this one: Mount Dora Christian Academy has averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
