After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Charlotte, the Braden River Pirates were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 79-60 victory over Venice. Given Braden River's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while Venice is ranked 362nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Braden River was led to victory by Jacobi Murray and Marcus Schade. Murray scored 16 points along with six rebounds, while Schade scored 22 points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that Schade pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dudache Belony, who scored nine points.
Despite the loss, Venice still got an impressive performance from Griffin Moricz, who scored ten points along with six rebounds. Josh Chaviano was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds.
Braden River has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Venice, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Braden River will take on Carrollwood Day at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Carrollwood Day focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday. As for Venice, they will be playing at home against Booker at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Booker is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.6 points per game.
