Section 9 AA-I recap Oct. 31, 2012
Kingston moved up to 114 from 147 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Section 9 AA-I. The Tigers were able to make move up by topping Roosevelt 44-21.
Pine Bush extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Minisink Valley, 27-0. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Bushmen.
Kingston's dynamic duo of Pat Dorrian and Brent Jordan proved tough for the Presidents to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Dorrian threw for 323 yards and five touchdowns and Jordan had 95 yards receiving. Jerred Beniquez helped Kingston's passing attack out by catching six balls for 94 yards.
Mike Martin was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 174 yards on 16 carries as Pine Bush topped Roosevelt. Teammate Matt Geisler added to the ground attack by rushing for 115 yards.
On the ground, Monroe-Woodbury's Kevin Carr has rushed for 893 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Justin Kaffenberger. The Monroe-Woodbury star has 41 catches for 668 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between the Crusaders and Jim Wright's team. Monroe-Woodbury comes into the matchup ranked 10th in the state, while the Bushmen ranks seventh.
There should be lots of points scored when Pat D'Aliso's team and Pine Bush face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Crusaders comes in having scored 230 this season, while the Bushmen have scored 330. Monroe-Woodbury scored 14 points last week as it bested Warwick.
The Crusaders and the Wildcats played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with the Crusaders eventually emerging with a 14-13 victory.
