Given Jefferson County North's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Pleasant Ridge is ranked 329th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the defeat, Pleasant Ridge saw an underclassman step up: Brady Mance scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five blocks. Those five blocks set a new season-high mark for him.
Jefferson County North's victory bumped their record up to 3-0-2. As for Pleasant Ridge, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Jefferson County North will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on McLouth on January 2, 2024. As for Pleasant Ridge, they will head out on the road to face off against Atchison County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Atchison County is on a three-game streak of home losses, Pleasant Ridge a four-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change.
