The Evangel Christian Lightning stacked a 16th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 50-24 margin over Ezekiel Academy. Winning may never get old, but Evangel Christian sure is getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Evangel Christian had a senior duo take command as Owen Bugnar scored 12 points and Clay Stanton scored 11 points.
Evangel Christian's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-3. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 29.9 points. As for Ezekiel Academy, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Evangel Christian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Rocket City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 312th, while the Lightning are ranked 80th). As for Ezekiel Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Warriors at 7:30 p.m.
